“...an oasis of calm outside Quito”
Puembo Birding Garden is an oasis of calm outside Quito, beautiful grounds, amazing birds, en suite accommodation and lovely food. Our room was in the orchard across the road from PBG, breakfast was provided by Jose & dinner was at PBG. As both meals are outside, it can be cool! The food, however was superb, home cooked, the highlights were the prawn ceviche & blueberry sorbet! Nothing is too much trouble for Mercedes, even buying a water cooler which provided hot water for tea in the orchard garden! This is a special place to stay Mercedes & Jose make you feel so welcome.

“Hummingbird feeders were a definite plus!”
Our host Mercedes was unbelievably accommodating. One of our group members required emergency medical attention and was personally taken to hospital and looked after the whole day. Meals were wonderful in a beautiful environment. Rooms clean and comfortable. Hummingbird feeders were a definite plus! Our group of 8 were all treated like family and genuinely sad to leave.

“We were coming home”
We stayed at Puembo Birding Garden several times during our recent birdwatching trip to Ecuador. What a wonderful wonderful introduction to Ecuador. Our room was comfortable and spacious--and the shower was gloriously hot. Mealtime was always a treat--excellent food, homemade, locally sourced. And Mercedes and her staff were warm and welcoming. We felt we were special guests. We were also grateful for all of Mercedes help: she was extremely helpful in responding to our inquiries before we arrived; helped identify birds and plants on the spacious grounds; organized a personalized day tour of Quito that was interesting and delightful; and made excellent arrangements for our birding itinerary. Each time we returned, we felt that we were "coming home." We can't recommend Puembo Birding Gardens, Mercedes and her staff highly enough.
